Casa Compasiva is a birth center located in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Thousands of people in Oaxaca remain isolated from medical care, and even those who have access to government-staffed clinics often receive inadequate care. Women giving birth within the government medical system are often subjected to trauma through complete isolation from friends and loved ones, racial prejudice, over-crowded conditions, and highly interventionist obstetric policies.
There are 19,000 births still taking place annually in Oaxaca outside of health centers and hospitals. Casa Compasiva works to provide a safe, natural birth environment that is respectful of the Oaxacan people while utilizing essential midwifery and medical knowledge to provide quality care and to save lives.
During our family's time in Oaxaca we had the opportunity to visit Casa Compasiva many times to meet the staff and some of the mothers, offering them maternity and newborn photo sessions, update their website, etc. The building and staff are warm and welcoming; what a blessing it is to the community to have such a comfortable and safe environment available for these mothers.
One hundred percent of the profits from the goods sold on clay.la will help Casa Compasiva pay their midwives, cover expenses, and offer these mothers the best care possible.
